This week, are 100th birthday celebrations S. Bhagat Singh Shaheed. He was born in 1907 at his village Chakk Number 105 Banga (Now Pakistani Panjab). His father S Kishan Singh held land and a large orchard in that village. The day S Bhagat Singh Ji Was born was the day when his uncle S Ajit Singh was released from jail by the British for his activities for the freedom of the country. Therefore, the family thought it to be an auspicious (Bhagaan-wala-Din) day, and thereby the new born baby was named Bhagat Singh. At young age of 23 S.Bhagat Singh kissed the noose at the gallows in Lahorw on March 23, 1931 along with his two compatriates Sri Rajguru and Sri Sukhdev. They laid their lives at the alter of their birth-land fighting against tyranny and slavery of the British. During his short stay in jail, S Bhagat Singh read more than 200 books on human history, philosphy, revolutions, economics, and politics. S. Bhagat Singh received inspiration to lead a meaningful life from the earlier sacrifice of S Kartar Singh Sarabha who was also hanged in lahore at age 19 for same reasons i.e. fighting slavery of the the British. We, here in London, join rest of the world in celebrating this great man’s life, his dreams,, and deeds for betterment of all humanity. May Waheguru ji bless his soul with peace, and keep inspiring the coming generations.
